The Allied Conservative Congress (ACC) has urged the Nigerian Judiciary to uphold its duties impartially, underscoring its role as the “temple of justice” and the last hope for the aggrieved.
The call was made by Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, National Secretary of the ACC, at the party’s 4th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
Lawal expressed concerns over an erosion of public confidence in the judiciary, citing issues such as miscarriages of justice, conflicting court orders, and rulings from courts of coordinate jurisdiction.
He noted that these issues have led to a decline in the credibility of Nigeria’s judicial system, describing it as a “mockery of the administration of justice.”
“The need to overhaul the judiciary cannot be overstated,” Lawal said. “An unbiased judiciary is critical for sustaining democracy. Judicial officers must be firm and uphold the rule of law to strengthen, deepen, and consolidate Nigeria’s democracy.”
The ACC, a conservative political movement, seeks to address issues of corruption, insecurity, and moral decline in Nigeria.
According to Lawal, the party is on a “rescue mission” to reform the nation and redirect it from self-serving politics. He stressed that national interests should take precedence over partisan agendas and personal gains.
In recent efforts, the ACC has launched a membership drive and expanded its presence nationwide, establishing secretariats in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The party is also preparing for registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as an official political party.
The NEC of the ACC praised prominent Nigerians who have joined or identified with the movement, describing it as a national cause promoting peace, unity, stability, equity, and prosperity.
Lawal added that the ACC represents a departure from the issues currently affecting Nigeria, including corruption, terrorism, and other criminal activities.
“The fight against corruption and insecurity requires political will to restore sanity to our society,” Lawal said.
“Nigeria is the only country we have, and we must unite to save it.”
In a show of commitment, NEC members of the ACC signed a Code of Conduct and Oath of Allegiance to the party on Thursday.
All ACC officers and political aspirants are expected to do the same as the party moves forward.
The ACC called on Nigerians who support democracy and good governance to join the movement, urging them to help build a conservative, democratic nation that future generations will be proud of.
“We must take our collective destiny in our hands and usher in a new Nigeria,” Lawal said.
