The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sadness and unequivocally condemned the bomb attack on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, which occurred on Wednesday.
This was disclosed in a statement was signed by Prof. T.A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF National Publicity Secretary.
The ACF regrets the attack and mourns the lives lost, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls. The Forum also expressed sympathy for the injured and wishes them a speedy recovery. Additionally, it extends condolences to the families of the deceased and to those who have been affected by this tragedy.
The ACF conveys its condolences to the government and the people of Borno State, as well as to all Nigerians.
The statement highlights that this tragic event serves as a harsh reminder that terrorism and insecurity are still prevalent and need to be addressed.
The ACF emphasizes that the fight against insecurity must be taken seriously by the authorities, targeting those who perpetrate terror with the necessary resolve.
It added that it is inconceivable that such acts of violence should bring the country to its knees, and it is entirely unacceptable.
Furthermore, the Forum calls for vigilance at all times and in all places, particularly in areas where people congregate, such as places of worship, markets, and social gatherings.
“Anti-social elements, both domestic and foreign, must not be permitted to disrupt the normalcy of daily life”, the statement added.
