ACF mourns Emir of Zuru, business mogul, Isyaku Ibrahim

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two prominent Northern elders:, the Emir of Zuru, Kebbi State, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd),  Gomo II, and esteemed politician and businessman Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim.

In a statement released on Sunday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T.A. Muhammad-Baba, the Forum stated that the North has lost two illustrious figures who made significant contributions to the nation, the region, and their communities.

The late Emir of Zuru, who was 82 years old, joined the Nigerian Army in 1962 and served during the Nigerian Civil War. He held several key positions, including Commandant of the Brigade of Guards and Military Governor of Bauchi State. After retiring, he dedicated himself to the traditional institution as Gomo II, Emir of Zuru, continuing to serve his people with distinction.

“His life was devoted to serving the nation, his community, and humanity as a whole, and the ACF and Arewa will always take pride in him,” the Forum stated.

The late Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, who was 89 years old, was recognized as an international businessman, philanthropist, and a key political figure from the Second to the Fourth Republic.

The ACF highlighted his principled approach to politics, particularly his role in thwarting the attempted abduction of Umaru Dikko in London during the military regime. He was also celebrated for his substantial contributions to sports and youth development as a philanthropist.

“Arewa and ACF will forever cherish his legacy and service,” the Forum added, noting that his achievements and unwavering commitment to the development of the North will continue to serve as an inspiration.

The Forum prayed for the souls of the departed leaders, wishing them eternal peace in Aljanna Firdaus, and extended its condolences to their families, as well as to the governments and people of Kebbi and Nasarawa States, and all Nigerians.
