A prominent civil society member and OGP enthusiast, Goje, has called on Kaduna State residents to shift their focus from politics to development, emphasizing that true progress lies in evaluating the impact of government initiatives on the living standards of the people.
Goje made this statement in a recent press release, urging citizens to hold the government accountable to the targets outlined in the Kaduna State Development Plan (2024-2028).
He noted that while the government has made efforts to construct hospitals, schools, and roads, these activities are merely means to an end, and the focus should be on outcomes that improve the lives of the people.
Using specific examples, Goje highlighted the need for citizens to demand data-driven accountability from the government.
In the education sector, he asked whether the government met the 2024 and 2025 targets for the qualified teacher-learner ratio, which aimed to improve from a baseline of 1:74 to 1:72 and 1:70, respectively.
Similarly, in the health sector, he questioned whether the state successfully reduced the financial burden on its citizens by lowering Out-of-Pocket Expenditure from the 2023 baseline of 84.0% to 80.0% in 2024 and 76.0% in 2025.
