Eleven(11) days after the presentation of 2024 fiscal year proposed budget by Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the state Assembly has passed a total of N225.893 billion budget proposal as presented for services in 2024.
At a plenary session Tuesday presided over by the speaker,Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, the lawmakers were briefed intensively by the house committee on finance, budget and Appropriation on the report on the budget proposal.
While considering the report, the assembly dissolved in to the Committee of Supply and unanimously considered the report presented by the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri (Madagali).
For the passage of the report after adoption by the members, the Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa) moved for the third reading of the appropriation bill and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Umar Suleiman Alkali (Yola North).
Earlier, Hon. Kate Mamuno (Demsa) commended the committee for a thorough job on the report noting that, the legislature should monitor closely strict lmplementation by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies with a view to checkmating the excesses of the MDAs.
Speaker Wesley, said that all the recommendations have been carried with few amendments.
He said that the recurrent expenditure is N111.379 billion while the capital expenditure is N114.514, totaling N225.8billion for the services of the state in 2024.
