The Adamawa State Government has approved contracts worth N11.4 billion for various developmental projects, including the construction of a new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp at Malkohi in Yola South Local Government Area, at a cost of N7.7 billion.
These decisions were reached at weekly executive council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at Government House Yola on Wednesday.
State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, dropped the hint in an interview with journalists shortly after the meeting, explaining that, the NYSC camp project has been divided into 21 lots, to be handled by 21 contractors, and is expected to be completed within six months from the date of contract signing.
Iliya stated that the new camp will enable the government to relocate NYSC activities from the current temporary site in Damare community in Girei local government area to Malkohi town in Yola South local council in the state.
According to the commissioner, the council also approved the remodeling and upgrading of Cottage Hospital, Gulak, in Madagali Local Government Area, at a cost of N1.5 billion.
The project, to be executed by The Reach Shortskill Limited, is expected to be completed within 52 weeks.
