Governor Uba Sani has announced his administration’s commitment to enhancing the livestock industry, bridging infrastructure gaps, facilitating market access, and attracting investments.
He revealed that the government has invested 10 million Euros to establish a state-of-the-art Arla Farm in Damau, located in the Kubau Local Government Area, which is set to commence operations in 2023.
During the ARIRA-Dano Open Day on Wednesday, represented by the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. AbdulKadir Muazu Meyere, the Governor stated that Arla Farms aims to achieve a milk output target of 4–5 million kilograms annually at full capacity.
Since the arrival of his administration, local milk production has increased, creating both direct and indirect job opportunities at ARILA Farms. Governor Sani highlighted the establishment of a robust institutional framework to ensure sustainability, expansion, and investment in the agricultural sector.
In the livestock subsector, Kaduna State has developed the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority (KADLRA), the Kaduna State Livestock Transformation Company, and the Kaduna Ranch Development Company, all designed to work in harmony to improve the industry.
The Governor expressed his pleasure in unveiling the Nigeria Dairy Center of Excellence, the Sedentarization and Climate Change Resilience in Nigeria (SCREEN) Project, and commissioning a yogurt factory.
