From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Adamawa state government has vowed to address activities of illegal minners towards mitigating security threats  in Ganye Chiefdom and across the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made this known at Government House Yola while receiving the Paramount ruler of Ganye Chief, the Gangwari Ganye,Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda and his entourage.

Governor Fintiri stated, “We have set machinery in motion to curb illegal mining in the state. I don’t have to wait for the Federal Government to act. Together with your support, we will nip security problems in the bud.”

He urged the people of Ganye to complement government efforts by being vigilant and monitoring suspicious movements of informants and criminal agents within their communities.

“You’re an excellent leader. It’s rare to have the type of Gangwari you have. We will continue to support you and every section of the state. Let us promote peaceful coexistence for the collective benefit of our state,” Fintiri added.

He also assured the community that the development train would reach Ganye, noting that much still needs to be done to close existing gaps. He called on the community to support government efforts, especially in facilitating the establishment of a military base, an initiative originally proposed by a native of the area.
