The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State is deepening as the seven governorship aspirants, other aspirants and stakeholders have threatened to boycott today’s national convention of the party in Abuja.
The stakeholders disclosed the development at a press conference held at the party secretariat in Yola yesterday expressing their displeasure over recent development alleging imposition unpopular candidates against the wish of the people which will extinguish the fortunate of the party in the state and nation at large.
Spokesman at the conference, Chief Anderawus Sawa stated that “the intention is to truncate our hard earn democracy because the happenings in the party over primaries where manipulations are being the order of the day, which we are saying is unacceptable and will be rejected out rightly”.
Sawa stated that the purported primary election was conducted in contravention of the court order restraining PDP and INEC from using any delegate list other than the one recognized by all the party executives at all level, aspirants, stakeholders and affirmed by the court.
He added that the aspirants and stakeholders had unanimously resolved to condemned and reject the exercise in its entirety.
“And that in protest to that we will not be part of any illegality that is happening within our party.
“That anything short of cancellation of this Kangaroo Primary by the NWC of our Party will leave us with no option but to follow the views of the entire great majority of the people of Adamawa State, we therefore resolved to abstain from the National convention of the party scheduled for tomorrow (today)”, he warned.
