Adamawa residents call for sack of Boss Mustapha over deplorable Numan road

Some aggrieved Adamawa residents have expressed disappointment over the long time neglect of the Numan – Lafiya -Gombe Federal highway linking the state with neighbouring Gombe state.
They lamented that the neglect of the Numan – Lafiya axis of Yola-Gombe by the federal government has been causing untold hardship to the people of the area especially the commuters.
They decried that the presence of the secretary to the Federal government (SGF) Boss Kida Mustapha Is of effects for not influencing the completion of the dilapidated Yola – Gombe calling on president Muhammad Buhari to sack him forthwith.
Checks by peoples Daily revealed that since the emergence of democracy in 1999 Federal government has been awarding this Yola – Gombe Federal highway contract rehabilitation with no work done on the Numan – Lafiya section of the highway leaving motorists to grapple with hardship whenever they are on the road.
A commuter Saidu Driver told our reporter in Lafiya town in Lamurde local government Area that, for close to two decades, the portion of the road between Numan and Lafiya has been in terrible mess and to a large extent has become un-motorable but despite the rot and the suffering people go through, the authorities never find it worthy for rehabilitation.
“The Numan – Gombe highway has suffered neglect in the past 20 years or so becoming a threat to the lives of motorists plying it despite the fact that Atiku Abubakar was the vice president of Nigeria from 1999 – 2007.
“ Contract for the rehabilitation was awarded sometime in 2005 but as we heard, former Governor Danjuma Goje of Gombe State ensured that the Gombe axis of the road was rehabilitated.
“ With the coming of APC government which paved the way for many people from Adamawa like the first lady, Aisha Buhari, SGF Boss Mustapha, FCT minister, Mohammed Musa Bello and others to become critical stakeholders, we thought this portion will also be repaired.
“But almost four years down the line, nothing has happened despite the fact that the Numan – Lafiya axis which is in complete ruins is not up to 40km while Gombe – Lafiya portion which is about 149 Km has been repaired.”
