The African Democratic Congress has asked a former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to follow due process if he intends to join the party.

The party, led by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, stressed that it remains committed to democratic ideals and the welfare of Nigerians.

In a statement issued on Monday, the group, which described itself as the “authentic” ADC, said the party was not for sale and could not be taken over by individuals pursuing personal interests.

Gombe said although the party respects Kwankwaso, it was worried about his alleged alignment with a coalition it described as political power mongers.

Kwankwaso, a leading figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party, was accused of associating with individuals allegedly seeking to hijack the ADC.

The group urged the former presidential candidate to reconsider his approach and embrace legitimate and transparent procedures.

Gombe said, “The authentic African Democratic Congress under my leadership holds respect for Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso but is highly disappointed with his recent political moves.

“We appeal to him to join the party through legitimate due process, without aligning with political jobbers desperate for power.

“If you truly wish to join the ADC, follow the proper registration channels, unless there is a hidden agenda.

“Those you are associating with have no respect for democracy or the welfare of Nigerians, but ADC is not for sale. It belongs to Nigerians.”
