Ahead 2019 NID, NAPHDA to commence polio immunization in Nasarawa

Count down to the National Immunization Day NID (Polio), the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency said that the agency is set to commence the state wide polio immunization.
This was made known during the Social Mobilization Technical Committee, SOMTEC, meeting held yesterday which comprised of market women, NGOs, JIN, CAN, media practitioners and staff of the social mobilization of the agency.
Declaring the meeting open, the chairman of SOMTEC, Mr. Alfred Akwe who is also the Director of Information Nasarawa State Ministry of Information and Culture implored SOMTEC members to exert more effort toward creating awareness to the entire state in order to achieve the set goal.
He noted that, despite challenges confronting the members for them to carry out their responsibilities as expected in terms of campaigns as according to him “A budget need to be made available for the SOMTEC members by the agency so as to enable mobilization committee carryout its mandate”.
Akwe however called on parents, care givers and mothers to embrace the forthcoming polio immunization slated for 13-16 July, 2019.
This meeting is aimed at mobilizing communities that NID (Polio) is targeted at children ranging from 0 – 5years. I call on mothers to avail their children for the exercise”. He added.
In his remark, the Acting Director social mobilization, NAPHD, Mohammed Ibrahim described the SOMTEC meeting as one of the vehicle of sensitization as well as commended the committee members for their efforts toward effective awareness to the public on immunization annually.
“I urged you all to intensify effort by creating ground for the success of 2019 NID (Polio) in the state. Soon I will explore an avenue for SOMTEC to function effectively for the well-being of our citizenry especially our children and women.”
