Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Thursday submitted his presidential nomination forms at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja, thus formally confirming his readiness to contest the 2027 presidential election.
The former two-time presidential candidate of the PDP, however, did not answer questions from journalists after submitting his form at the PDP National headquarters in Abuja.
Rather, Atiku announced the development on Thursday through a post on his verified X handle, where he described the move as a major step towards rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges and restoring prosperity to the country.
According to the former Vice President of the country between 1999 and 2007, his ambition goes beyond politics, stressing that the movement is driven by a desire to rebuild the nation and rekindle hope among citizens.
He wrote, “The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today (Thursday) at the national secretariat of our great party, the African Democratic Congress.”
The former Vice President stated that the project was aimed at national renewal and collective progress, insisting that Nigerians must unite to overcome the nation’s difficulties.
His words, “This is more than a political journey; it is a national movement rooted in hope, renewal, and the collective resolve to save Nigeria from despair”.
Atiku therefore appealed to Nigerians across ethnic, religious and regional lines to support the movement, saying national unity would be critical to achieving meaningful change.
