Ahudiyanem Queens, Edo Queens, Delta Queens Secure Wins in Gov Diri Pre-season Tourney

The second Governor Diri Pre-Season Football Tournament has continued to witness the best of women football in the country with 10 women sides jostling for glory ahead of the commencement of the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL.

The tournament which is aimed at preparing Bayelsa Queens enters day two with eye-catching football among the teams in both the Samson Siasia Stadium and the Golf Pitch, Onopa, Yenagoa centres.

Ahudiyanem Queens of Abia State, in the first match of the day beat Remo Stars Ladies 2-1. Agams Nkechi put Remo Stars Ladies in front on 23 minutes, Owoeye Remilope levelled the scoreline just before the halftime mark while Fankule Oluwaseun doubled the lead on 73 minutes to seal victory for Ahudiyanem Queens.

It was a goal feast at the Golf Pitch Onopa, in the match between Imo Strikers and Delta Queens. Delta Queens humbled Imo Strikers 4-2 having played a barren draw with Edo Queens in match day one of the tournament.

Goals from Amara Chukwa, Adams Ogaga, Oduoke kikilomo, Samson Wariea on 38, 42, 47 and 51 minutes respectively as well as Oyenzu Chiamaka 71 and Mamaeze Adanna’s 73 minutes consolation goals gave Delta Queens the deserved win.

Reigning league champions, Edo Queens in the second game of the day at the Golf Pitch defeated C2E Academy of Aba 3-0, courtesy of Mamudu Mary’s brace in 20 and 55 minutes as well as Dominance Odudanjo’s 89 minutes strike to secure Edo Queens’ first win in the tournament.

Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt in the last fixture of the day at the Samson Siasia Stadium were held to a barren draw by determined Enugu Rangers Ladies.

Earlier, Bayelsa Queens edged out Imo Strikers 2-0, Delta Queens and Edo Queens in the second game at the Samson Siasia Stadium played out a goalless draw while Nasarawa Amazons were stunned by a lone goal by Ahudiyanem FC at the Onopa centre.

Rivers Angels and Remo Stars Ladies in the last fixture at the Onopa Golf Pitch settled for a barren draw.

Action will resume on Monday 5th, October 2026. Rangers Ladies will face Ahudiyanem Queens at 8:00am as Nasarawa Amazons tackle Remo Stars Ladies at 10.00am, C2E Sports Academy will keep a date with Imo Strikers at 1.00pm while host Bayelsa Queens will entertain neighbours, Delta Queens at 3.00pm.

All matches will be decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
