Aig-Imoukhuede foundation honours outstanding civil servants

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has honoured outstanding civil servants as part of activities to mark the fifth anniversary of the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Memorial Endowment Fund during the 2026 Civil Service Week in Abuja.

At the event which held on August 15, 2026, Thr Foundation said since its establishment in 2022 in memory of the late Pastor Emily Aig-Imoukhuede, the Endowment Fund had awarded more than ₦60 million to civil servants across over 50 Ministries, Departments and Agencies in recognition of outstanding service.

This year’s honourees were recognised in two categories: the Presidential Civil Service Merit Award worth ₦500,000 and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation EPIC Award worth ₦250,000.

The Presidential Award is reserved for public servants with a minimum of five years’ service and honours careers defined by outstanding performance, ethical leadership and lasting contributions to public service.

The EPIC Award recognises officers who demonstrate an Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible, and Citizen-Centred civil service, while upholding Accountability, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Loyalty, and Efficiency.

Recipients of the Presidential Civil Service Merit Award include:
Abumoye Ayo Emmanuel, Senior Education Officer, Federal Ministry of Education.
A Robotics Coach at Queen’s College, Lagos, Abumoye has distinguished himself in STEAM education and girl-child empowerment. Under his leadership, the Queen’s College Robotics Team represented Nigeria at the FIRST LEGO League Competition in Australia in 2023, emerged African Champions at the Rwanda Submerged Robotics Competition in 2025, and qualified for global competitions in Houston and Canada in 2026.
He was also recognised for innovation projects including the AuroDam Hydro Electric Power Project and the Aurocleaner sweeping robot prototype.

Recipients of the HCSF EPIC Award include: Anthony Okechukwu Ogwo, Assistant Chief Education Officer, Federal Ministry of Education.
An alumnus of the AIG Public Leaders Programme, PLP Cohort 5, Ogwo has championed digital transformation in the Ministry. He developed a capstone project for a digital Requisition and General Services Management Portal to integrate General Services, Procurement and SERVICOM functions for real-time tracking and accountability.

Ochoche Emmanuel Peter, Assistant Director, Ministry of Regional Development.
With over 18 years in service, Ochoche specialises in performance management and public sector reform. He played a pioneering role in the development of FCSSIP 2020 and FCSSIP 2025 and has supported performance systems across multiple MDAs.

Speaking at the event, Director of Programmes at the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Chioma Njoku, said the Endowment Fund reflects the Foundation’s belief that recognising excellence strengthens public institutions.

“Public servants play a vital role in shaping the quality of governance and improving outcomes for citizens. Through the Emily Aig-Imoukhuede Memorial Endowment Fund, we celebrate individuals whose commitment to excellence, integrity and service sets a standard for others,” she said.

She added that the Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that encourage professionalism and contribute to the continuous improvement of Nigeria’s public service.

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation supports the development of high-performing public sector leaders and institutions through the Endowment Fund and other initiatives.
