Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for Abuja after participating in a three-day Nigeria–Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange focused on improving nutrition outcomes.
Shettima’s return followed discussions and field visits involving Nigerian and Ethiopian stakeholders on nutrition, agriculture, early childhood development, technology, financing and service delivery at the subnational level.
His spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement, saying the Vice President led a Nigerian delegation comprising governors, ministers and other stakeholders during the engagement.
The exchange, themed “Moving the Needle on Nutrition”, provided a platform for both countries to share experiences and explore practical approaches to addressing nutrition challenges.
According to the statement, the discussions also focused on strengthening agricultural value chains and accelerating the implementation of nutrition-related programmes at state, local government and community levels.
The engagement was aimed at deepening cooperation between Nigeria and Ethiopia, particularly in identifying approaches that could improve nutrition outcomes and support development initiatives.
Shettima is expected to arrive in Abuja later on Friday, according to the statement.
However, the statement did not provide details of specific agreements reached, funding commitments made or new programmes expected to emerge from the exchange.
