Air Peace has completed the fourth phase of the Federal Government’s evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa, bringing home an additional 284 citizens affected by the recent xenophobic attacks.

The airline’s spokesperson, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos.

According to him, the latest evacuation flight was operated using Air Peace’s Boeing 777-200 wide-body aircraft. The returnees arrived in Nigeria on Thursday evening, increasing the total number of Nigerians evacuated by the airline to 1,085.

Osifo-Whiskey said the operation underscores Air Peace’s continued commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s emergency response efforts by providing safe and efficient transportation for stranded Nigerian citizens.

He noted that the airline had earlier evacuated 262 Nigerians during the first mission on June 11, followed by 271 evacuees on June 30, and 268 more on July 3, before the latest airlift.

The spokesperson said the successful completion of the fourth evacuation mission demonstrates the airline’s readiness to deploy its fleet and operational capacity in support of national emergencies whenever required.

“This is more than an airlift. The ongoing evacuation exercise reflects Air Peace’s unwavering humanitarian philosophy—one rooted in compassion, patriotism, and an abiding commitment to the welfare of Nigerians,” Osifo-Whiskey said.

He added that since commencing operations, Air Peace has undertaken more than 16 evacuation and humanitarian relief missions across Africa and other parts of the world.
