Alakyo: Killers of security agents still walking free-Al-makura

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa state said several months after the Alakyo incidence when scores of security operatives were brutally murdered, the killers are still walking the street free.

Al-makura stated this at the weekend while consoling his elder brother, the Sarkin Kwandere, Alhaji Ahmadu Al-makura, who, last weekend, escaped an assassination attempt in his private residence in Lafia.

The governor lamented that in matters of security such as what happened in Alakyo, the state government has limited powers and called on the federal government to step up efforts regarding issues relating to security especially in areas where there are challenges.

Reacting to the alleged assassination attempt on his brother, Al-makura said there have been several such attempts on him and his elder brother in the last one year.

“I don’t want to sound as an alarmist on issues that are either personal or not requiring states attention, but in the past one year, only God knows the amount of incursions and attempts on our lives and people of the state”, Al-makura stated.

He said his elder brother has become vulnerable since he became governor because with every failed attempt on him, his brother, the Sarkin Kwandere, becomes the target.

“They couldn’t have been armed robbers because they didn’t ask anybody anything. They did not even enter the house because he was in the mosque. All they were asking was, ‘Where is Sarkin?’ Only God saved him as they couldn’t see him but he was watching them”, narrated the Governor.

He disclosed that there was no life lost as a result of the attack, stressing that government will intensify investigation to fish out the attempted killers.
