As christian faithful mark this year’s Christmas, the National Chairman Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi has stressed the need for them to always celebrate the festive in a harmonious atmosphere with everyone, irrespective of their religious backgrounds as Christmas dictates.
Umar, who is also Chairman of Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi has urged Christians to celebrate the season in line with the current principles of President Bola Tinubu’s administration for unity and oneness among Nigerians, in the interest of progress and prosperity in the land.
The ALGON boss, who gave this charge in his christmas message, noted Christmas is all about demonstrating love, peace and happiness as it’s profoundly underlined with the birth of Jesus Christ.
He added that Christmas is a period of sharing with love and concern irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
According to him, the council has made adequate security arrangement to ensure that the celebration is devoid of unwholesome conduct, attitude and practices that hinder cooperation and understanding between peoples and interreligious groups.
He also called on residents to report any unusual movement to the appropriate law and order authorities before, during and after the yuletide.
Furthermore, Umar, in his capacity as ALGON National Chairman sent his Christmas greetings to the 774 local government councils in the country, saying that they have a responsibility to their states and the federal government, which are working in harmony to provide commensurate welfare for the populace and means of development across the federation.
