Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has announced plans to recruit more teachers for primary and secondary schools as part of efforts to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education across the state.
Alia disclosed this during his ongoing Thank-You Tour of the state, where he engaged traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, women and youth groups, and other community leaders.
The governor said his administration had already recruited 9,700 primary school teachers and was planning additional recruitment to meet the growing manpower needs of the education sector.
He also pledged to consolidate the achievements recorded by his administration over the past three years and accelerate the implementation of people-oriented development projects across Benue.
According to him, the government would continue to prioritise investments in human capital development and infrastructure, particularly projects with a direct impact on the lives and welfare of residents.
Alia called on Benue people to remain united and put the collective interest of the state above political differences, stressing that peace, stability and cooperation were essential for sustainable development.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to Benue State and urged residents to continue cooperating with the Federal Government to facilitate more development.
Alia Engages Stakeholders in Buruku
The governor began his engagements in Buruku Federal Constituency, where he met with traditional rulers and religious leaders before holding discussions with political stakeholders.
The Executive Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council, Hon. Raymond Zege, assured the governor of the people’s continued support and pledged the local government’s backing for his re-election bid in 2027.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Alex Adingi, commended the administration’s interventions and appealed for additional development projects in the area.
The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Aii Yenge, who spoke on behalf of the people, also commended the governor’s achievements and pledged their support for Alia, President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Governor Visits Gboko and Tarka
In Gboko, Alia held separate engagements with traditional rulers, religious leaders, political leaders and other stakeholders.
The Chairman of Tarka Local Government Council, Hon. Raphael Yenge, expressed appreciation for projects executed in the area and assured the governor of continued support.
Speaking on behalf of Gboko and Tarka, Elder Atsenda Ishwa and Elder Iortyer respectively commended the administration’s projects and legacy initiatives while calling for more development interventions.
The APC State Women Leader, Hon. Helen Agaigbe, together with women and youth leaders from Gboko and Tarka, assured the governor of their continued support and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
APC State Chairman, Hon. Chief Dr Benjamin Omale, thanked the people for their sustained support for the party and the Alia administration. He urged them to intensify mobilisation for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, also appealed to the people of Jemgbagh to avoid unnecessary political distractions and support Governor Alia.
Suswam described Alia as a son of the area and stressed the importance of working together for the success of his administration and re-election.
The stakeholder engagements, attended by political office holders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth leaders and other community representatives, underscored the administration’s focus on grassroots engagement as the Thank-You Tour continues across Benue State.
