The Management of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of Professor Yakubu Mahmoud to remove Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Yunusa Hudu Ari over alleged professional misconduct.
Chairman of the state Inter-party Advisory council, Hon. Bello Babajo made public the demand of the council at a press conference in Yola Thursday stressing that the council is Worried by the allegations of professional misconduct against the Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of the (state), which compromised the electoral process.
Babajo said the press conference is necessary due to the contradictory statements over the leaked audio going round the air waves promoting bias tendencies against the popular choice of the Adamawa electorate which must be resisted by all.
He stated that for the inconclusive election to be acceptable to all interested parties then the INEC needs to do the needful by bringing someone who is neutral and has no integrity challenge.
“Adamawa state is a peaceful state which has never experienced any political crisis in the history of political struggle, that audio if found to be true will cause damages and setbacks in the political atmosphere in our dear state.
“We have lost confidence in Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari as REC in our state because he is not neutral in his dealings, we therefore as a matter of importance and urgency call on the INEC Chairman to remove the commissioner and bring someone whose integrity has not been tempered with”, Babajo appealed.
