A construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has donated food items to some widows in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), to help cushion the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.
In particular, items donated to AMAC include 150 bags 5kg rice and 150 bags of other foodstuff condiments.
According to the AMAC Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu Candido, who announced the donations at the council’s headquarters in the nation’s capital city, thanked the company and described its intervention as timely as it would mitigate the effect of the sit-at-home order on older persons and widows.
Candido disclosed that the gesture, which was made possible by a friend of AMAC, to compliment efforts of the council in cushioning the impact of the lockdown on the widows.
“This palliative is coming to you believing in the fact that God will continue to make your husband’s to rest in peace,” he said.
Earlier, the Council Secretary, Hon. Ramat Abisola Abdullahi, who appreciated Julius Berger for its donations, also called on other organizations to assist the needy in the society.
“We want to appreciate Julius Berger for donating today to about 150 households; we are calling on organizations and well-meaning Nigerians; there is still opportunity to assist the vulnerable people in our communities,” Abdullahi said.
A recipient of the food items, Rabbi Ahmed, expressed appreciation to the council and prayed for healing of the country from the covid-19 pandemic.
