” The FCT Stakeholders’ Assembly notes with deep concern the list of Ambassadorial nominees submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the Senate in Shockingly, not a single nominee is from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This omission represents a deliberate and calculated attempt to violate the constitutional and human rights of over six million original inhabitants (OIs) and residents of the FC T . All of whom are citizens who, by law and history, are equal stakeholders in the Nigerian federation.

In recent times, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has shown a disturbing pattern of excluding FCT indigenes from key federal appointments. Notably, in June 2025, the administration completely disregarded the NCDC Establishment Act, 2024, by failing to include any OI in the Governing Board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC). All appeals from the OIs and other wellmeaning Nigerians were ignored. In our peaceful effort to draw the attention of the National Assembly and Mr. President to this injustice, one of our own was tragically killed by the Nigerian Police. Regrettably, even this loss of life did not move the government to address the clear violation of our rights.

We therefore call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately address these injustices by Including at least one or two Original Inhabitant as nominees. ong the Ambassadorial Appointing at least two Original Inhabitants to the Governing Board of the NCDC.

We also call upon the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike who, in accordance with Section 299(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), stands in for Mr. President as the Governor of the FCT , not to abdicate his constitutional responsibility. As the political and administrative leader of the Territory, he bears a heightened obligation to safeguard the rights, freedoms, and interests of the Original Inhabitants, just as any state governor would for their people. We urge the Honorable Minister to confront this injustice with the same vigor he applies to land administration and infrastructure development , ultimately, human infrastructure is the most valuable asset..
