Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun yesterday summoned Oba Matthew Ajibulu ‘Olu of Onigbedu’ over allegations of ritual and illegal conducts by his community residents.
The Governor gave the directive when villagers from Onigbedu community in wekoro Local Government area staged a protest to his office and the state House of Assembly.
Leading the protesters Onigbedu CDAChairman, Lukman Adebare Kazeem said the community wants the state government to check the excesses of the monarch.
“We have decided to inform every one of what we are facing, our Oba has incurred problem to the community, inflicted hardship to us and dislodged our relationship with other neighbouring towns and investors.
“He also went ahead to undertake various ritual activities and building of Oro shrine in the center of the community after the CDA had kicked against
it .Onigbedu community wants the government to be aware and rescue us”, Kazeem stated.
Another protester, Adetola Isiwatu said Oba Ajibulu was imposed on the community by the former administration of Gbenga Daniel, the community was ready to partner with him for peace to reign. “It’s on record that former governor Daniel imposed Ajibulu on us, he promised us a peaceful reign but he changed to be mischievous later. He now threatens everyone in the community and intimidates the chiefs and Baales.”
She further said the community is tired of all this operations and want the state government to intervene.
Responding on behalf of Governor Amosun, who was heading to a crucial meeting, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct saying that the government is concerned about happenings in the rural areas of the state.
