With just days to the Anambra state governorship election, a group known as the South East Good Governance Advocates (SEGGA) has called on the Anambra electorate to vote the candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. George Moghalu.
Moghalu, a former Managing Director and CEO of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) was also a National Secretary of one of the parties that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a two-time National Auditor the ruling party, APC.
SEGGA says on the strength of his political exposure and integrity, Moghalu is more positioned to bring about the expected development to Anambra.
The group called on the presidential candidate of the party in 2023, Peter Obi and all the elected politicians on the platform of Labour party in the South East, and Anambra in particular to make Moghalu’s election victory a reality.
In a statement jointly signed by its Coordinator and Secretary, Mark Onukwuwe and Anozie Madu in Abuja, said the silent but loud transformation of Abia state, under the Labour Party governor, Alex Otti, underscores the character of the party to provide good governance.
“This close experience which has begun in the eastern region, has provoked our desire for expansion of same in other states and the emergence of George Moghalu as gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party, no doubt, signals a replication if not advancement of such people-centered development in Anambra and by extension in the Southeast.
“It is our belief that when His Excellency, Peter Obi, joins and leads the campaign, it would inspire other leaders of the South East region seeking for good governance which they commend in Abia to join the camp that would uproot Soludo and his external partners to whom he has surreptitiously handed over the state against the wishes of the South East interest in the South East Region.
“George Moghalu has an antecedent of development and we of the Southeast region believe in continuous development and cannot deny the people of Anambra the opportunity to harness her son for her own development benefit.
“The South East Good Governance Advocates (SEGGA), is convinced that no amount of illegal measures adopted by any set would truncate the will of the people come November 8, 2025 as the people would by the support of all the agents of good governance, growth, positive and enduring development in Anambra state.”
The group added that if the Labour Party wins the Anambra election, it will be an added advantage to the aspiration of Peter Obi, who is seen by many Nigerians as the best man to become the president of the country.
