Anambra supplementary poll: CDD urges INEC, political parties, security agencies to follow electoral guidelines

To ensure transparency and fairness in the supplementary election in Ihiala LGA of Anambra state, Centre for Democracy and Development has called on INEC, political parties and security agencies to follow electoral guidelines

Speaking on Monday, while addressing journalists in Abuja, on the supplementary election slated for Tuesday, CDD Lead Analyst, Jibrin Ibrahim, said the election should be conducted with sincereity and within the electoral guidelines.

He said that the federal government should take drastic measures to address worsening insecurity across the country to ensure that the 2023 elections are not undermined.

“We call on the political class to recognise the connection between governance failure and voter apathy.

“We urge INEC to swiftly address the hiccups with the BVAS and strengthen the infrastructure supporting the device.

“We urge INEC to review its current unreliable logistics strategy.

“We urge the hierarchy of security agencies to honour the service of their personnel deployed to secure elections by taking care of their welfare.

“We urge INEC to improve the pace of transmission of results to IREV to assure stakeholders of the integrity of the process.”
