Another 5 killed in fresh attack in Nasarawa

About five persons were reportedly killed by suspected gunmen yesterday, in Gida Buba community in Nasarawa state.

The gunmen, who are suspected to be herdsmen stormed the area in the late hour of Sunday night, armed with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically forcing many of the villagers to run for their lives.

Gidan Buba is a community that is predominantly occupants of Eggon tribe and some few other tribes who for many decades were living peacefully until now.

Speaking with Peoples daily, the National Acting President of Eggon Cultural Development Association (ECDA), who confirmed the incident, lamented on the consistence attack on his people.

According to him, “It happened on the same day these people attacked Arikya town, where 32 people are killed”, adding that the situation was so pathetic, seeing people being killed on a daily basis.

He however called on the government to, as matter of urgency, stop the attack on innocent people.

It could be recalled that two day’s ago, some gunmen also attacked the Governor’s aides along Obi- Keana, Awe road, which is still under investigation.

Our correspondent, who contacted the state’s Police Public Relation Officer, Ismail Numam, did not get any positive result, as he said he is yet to be briefed of the happening.
