From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi
An aspirant to the position of the National youth Leader, Abdullai Manager, at the recently conducted National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for a rerun for the position claiming that he was excluded from the selection and election process.
Manager I’m a petition addressed to the chairman of party’s Convention Appeal Committee stated that “I wish to draw the attention of the Convention Appeal committee through this petition to the apparent lack of internal democracy, lack of openness and fairness in the recently conducted convention process which flagrantly violated the electoral act 2010 as amended APC constitution and the APC Convention guidelines”
“I am loyal member from Bauchi with registration no 11045112 (who) purchased a form with receipt no ; 0029 at the sum of N100,000 aspirant for the office of National Youth Leader and I was duly screened and cleared by North east screening committee.
“I was total excluded from the exercise (as) my name was not on the aspirants list and I am not aware of any consensus “the petitioner said.
It further alleged that: “the election of 52 years old as National Youth Leader of APC contradicted the provision of the party constitution which itself defines youth as person between the ages of 18-40”
The Petitioner urge the Convention committee to declare the process of election ,selection, and consensus as illegal and order for re-election to fill the office of the National Youth Leader of the party in the interest of justice adding that “The result as released did not reflect the minds of the delegates . We therefore call on the committee to cancel the purported convention result having not (been) properly conducted according to the constitution of the party.”
