The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kano Youth Concerned Forum has expressed delight over the appointment of Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, saying it is a crucial step towards addressing Nigeria’s significant housing deficit, which exceeds 20 million units.
This was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Forum, Salisu Haruna, and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
The statement stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s acknowledgment of the housing crisis as a critical national issue and highlighted the administration’s commitment to tackling it effectively.
The statement further explained that a key initiative under President Tinubu’s plan is the “Renewed Hope City” program, aimed at developing sustainable communities and providing affordable housing options for low-income earners.
The Forum believed that Ata’s background in governance and economics positions will help implement policies that enhance housing accessibility.
“With rapid urbanization leading to increased informal settlements and strained infrastructure, we see Hon. Ata’s leadership as vital in reversing these trends. His prior role as Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly has given him valuable insights into local governance and housing development,” the Forum added.
