APC groups hail Yari for heeding concerns over Sheriff

Date:

Three support groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have commended Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Committee for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his response to concerns raised about Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s reported involvement in some 2027 campaign activities.

The groups are the Zamfara Good Leadership Development Initiative (ZGLDI), Borno IDPs Welfare Association (BIWA) and Grassroots Movement for Tinubu Continuity (GMTC).

They had raised concerns over the reported association of Sheriff with aspects of President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign activities and appealed to Yari to consider their position.

In a joint statement, the groups said they welcomed Yari’s decision to listen to their appeals and his reported move to keep Sheriff away from some activities associated with the Tinubu campaign committee.

They said the response showed the need for APC leaders to engage party supporters and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the Zamfara Good Leadership Development Initiative, Comrade Zailani Gusau, reaffirmed the group’s support for the APC and President Tinubu.

The Borno IDPs Welfare Association, Kano, represented by Amb. Muhammad Gana Bukar, also welcomed measures aimed at promoting unity and cooperation among stakeholders within the APC.

GMTC said engagement between party leaders and grassroots supporters could strengthen relationships within the party ahead of 2027.

The groups urged APC supporters to remain united and respect the party’s structures and principles.
