APC Primaries: Bindow, Ribadu, Modi absent at reconciliation parley

Date:

From Umar Dankano, Yola

Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla of Adamawa state and the two major contenders ( Former EFCC Boss, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and younger brother to President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife Dr. Modi Hallilu) who contested the Governorship primaries were conspicuously absent as the APC National peace and reconciliation committee visited the state to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.
The committee which interacted with the aggrieved members and major
stakeholders from Adamawa and Taraba states did not give reasons why the major stakeholders in the Adamawa APC crisis were absent at the reconciliatory meeting.
Addressing the aggrieved members, the chairman of the committee, Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nassarawa state stated that the committee is not here to adjudicate but to mediate in the crisis arising from the conduct of the primary election.
Governor Almakura told the aggrieved members that committee is operating with an open mind to hear the side of the stories of members especially who contested the concluded primaries of the party from the two states.
He pledged that everyone with complaint will be allowed to ventilate his or her view so that at the end the committee can provide fair recommendations for addressing the difference in the interest of the peaceful existence of the party.
But, in a swift reaction some aggrieved members claimed that they were not contacted by anybody, describing the Almakura committee as kangaroo body.
A senatorial aggrieved aspirant, Alhaji Bappah Waziri said categorically no body invited him, noting that he just heard it from this reporter.
Waziri accused state Governors under the APC of creating this problem in the party by imposing unpopular candidates on electorate in their states.
Spokesmen of Malam Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organisation, Mr.Usman Ibrahim opined that the committee was just in the state to rob mind with Governor Jibrilla, because they were illegally constituted.
Ibrahim accused the National Working Committee of the party of creating more problems with the constitution of this committee, because only selected and favoured ones were invited.
