NASS clerk urges youths to join politics to deepen democratic process

Nigerian Youths have been enjoined to participate actively in the democratic process to help them imbibe the ideals of leadership early in life.
Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Sani Omolori gave the charge while declaring open the Young Parliamentarians Forum Youth Week and Exhibition at the Assembly complex.
He said: “It is gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the National Assembly today to be part of another process of opening up legislative institution for citizens to have a better understanding of what the legislature stands for and how it really operates.
“For the youth to be effective leaders of tomorrow, they must be introduced to the leadership recruitment process early enough.
“ Let me use this medium to encourage young participants at this event to take full advantage of this rare opportunity especially as it relates to the exhibitors that have been carefully selected to answer your questions, provide access to resource materials and educate you on possible areas of interest which may as well activate career opportunities.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Nnanna Igbokwe said that National Assembly was working on bills to enforce the affirmative action to give the youths an opportunities in the political and democratic process of the country.
Tagged “Preparing Young Persons for Greater Participation in the Democratic Process of Nigeria”, this year’s event was aimed at showcasing the potentials of young people in Nigeria’s democratic process, to sensitize as well as educate political actors for effective leadership in the future.
Young Parliamentarians Forum of the National Assembly is an advocacy group in Parliament charged with the responsibility of enhancing the qualitative participation of young people in governance, decision making and leadership.
