The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Kano State governor, Abbah Yusuf as being behind the purported suspension of the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, describing it as a devious act of importers who were only driven by mischief and envy.
It would be recalled that on Monday the news broke out that the Executive Committee of the Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, suspended Ganduje over alleged corruption charges which is billed to be heard today at the High Court in Kano.
But in a statement in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary (NPS) of the party, Barr. Felix Morka said those who announced the suspension of the National Chairman were non members of the party who were sponsored by the state government led by Governor Yusuf of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
“The purported suspension was the devious act of a group of impersonators of Ward officials out to cause mischief and create confusion in the otherwise peaceful Ganduje Ward chapter of our Party. The perpetrators of this criminal act are not card carrying members of APC in the Ward but are individuals affiliated with senior officials and representatives of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).
“This act procured by officials of the ruling NNPP in Kano is part of the despicable programme of political persecution launched by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf against Dr. Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano state.
“The purported suspension is downright criminal, and of no effect whatsoever. The legitimate Executive Committee of the Ganduje Ward has since denounced the action and reaffirmed Dr. Ganduje as a bonafide member of the Party in the Ward, and in good standing”.
The statement further revealed that the APC has filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun requesting an expedited investigation of the matter and that appropriate punishment be served on the perpetrators and their sponsors.
The ruling party equally urged its members across the country and indeed members of the general public to disregard reports of the suspension of its National Chairman who is, and remains in office.
Meanwhile at the time of filing this report, Ganduje was locked in a meeting with members of the State Working Committee (SWC) at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.
