The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the last weekend Presidential election by the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) against the other popular candidates in the contest.
Receiving the collated results by the Returning Officers from the fourteen Local Government Councils of the state, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Mahmud Yakubu, declared that the APC has won 298,396 votes out of the total votes cast.
Professor Yakubu who further declared that, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP has scored 193,978 then followed by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the NNPP has scored scored 4,044 while Peter Obi of Labour Party has 1,660 votes, said the votes were realized out of the 1,879,308 registered and the 527,137 accredited voters in the state.
According to him, 502,923 were recorded as valid votes in the exercise, while 16,508 were rejected and 519,43 votes were the total votes cast being recorded by the Commission for the Presidential election conducted last Saturday in Zamfara State.
Meanwhile, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has been declared the winner of Zamfara West Senatorial having scored 147,346 against Bello Fagon of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)who scored 55,083 votes.
The Collation Officer of the Zamfara West senatorial zone, Professor Rufus Teniola of the Federal University Gusau, declared that, “The APC candidate, Abdulaziz Yari is the winner with the total votes of 147,346 been scored against the other candidates”.
While the candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP scored 363 and Labour Party candidate got 111 votes in the collated results.
Similarly, the Candidate of All Progressive Congress in Anka /Talata Mafara Federal Constituency, Muhammad Isah Anka has been declared as the winner of the contest.
Announcing the result, the INEC Returning Officer for the Constituency, Professor Ibrahim Garba of Federal University Gusau further read that, “Yusuf Kabiru of the AA scored 47 votes, Bashar Nafaru of ADC,147 votes, Ayuba Shamsudeen of ADP 106 votes, Muhammad Isah Anka of APC 47,722 votes, Mustapha Suleiman of NNPP 130 votes.
“Others were Aliyu Sani of NRM scored 84 votes, Kabiru Yahaya of PDP has scored 14,872 votes while Aminu Same from the SDP has scored 45 votes and Lawal Umma of YPP has 40 votes respectively.
Professor Garba, said, “Muhammad Isah Anka of the All Progressives Congress (APC), having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest vote, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected as Member House of Representatives to represent Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency.”
