From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

Kano state Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is desperately wooing the national leader of the party, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso because it can not win the 2027 presidential election without him in its fold.
Speaking at a press conference at his office in Kano on Thursday, Dungurawa said the ruling APC lacks political strength to win the 2027 election without relying on the influence of Kwankwaso.
He said the APC, both at national and state level, is up and doing to extend overtures to Kwankwaso, just to hide under his popularity to win election.
Dungurawa noted that the ruling APC had “lost focus and direction,” which he argued explained their continuous overtures to Kwankwaso.
“These APC people are weak and confused. They know without Kwankwaso, they will not win in 2027.
“They keep telling the public they are in talks with him. They need him. But he is only concerned about the welfare of Nigerians.”
He, however, noted that reconciliation in politics was always possible, insisting that Kwankwaso’s recent encounters with political figures were coincidental and not tied to any alliance talks.
Dungurawa expressed optimism in the chances of NNPP to win gubernatorial election in Kano in view of its giant strides being recorded.
According to him, in less than three years, governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has transformed the state in all strata of development.
He added that governor Yusuf deserve commendation “for clearing Ganduje’s mess within short period of time.”
