A chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Willy Ezugwu, has expressed concern that the continued feud between the executive and the legislature is a sign of an impending anarchy in the country, which he said is capable of derailing the nation’s democracy.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, Ezugwu who is also the Secretary General of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) noted that “the current bickering over the delayed passage of the 2018 budget and the cat and mouse game between the two arms of government over the supplementary appropriation bill by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a mere symptom of a catastrophic consequences of the ongoing altercation between them.”
“The unending dispute is egoistic, unnecessary and unhealthy for democracy in any society, resulting in the ongoing defections with the people’s mandate. The Nigerian people are the greatest losers in this selfish political gangsterism. And I urge every lover of democracy in the world to speak up now in defence of the Nigerian democracy because a stitch in time saves nine.
“As a Nigerian, I have watched with dismay as our hitherto exulted leaders are sacrificing our hard earned democracy on the alters of ego, nepotism and greed for power at the expense of the suffering masses who elected them with hope of a better wellbeing.”, he said.
