Guber aspirant condemns sack of Kaduna Assembly Deputy Speaker

A gubernatorial aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, has described the decision to declare the seat of Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly as political victimization
According to him, the Assembly’s decision showed clearly the penchant of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the violation of the constitution in its bid to retain power by all means.
Ashiru, who was the Chairman of the House Committee on appropriation at the Kaduna State House of Assembly from 1999-2007, made the comment in a statement signed by his campaign Media Team Chairman, Murtala Abubakar.
The Governorship aspirant declared his intention to run for the state’s number one seat in June, 2018.
He said the defection of the Deputy Speaker, who is also a member representing Kachia, John Audu and another member representing Kudan constituency, Junaidu Yakubu, respectively from the APC was based on the existence of strong factions in the party.
“By declaring their seats vacant on the basis of the defection of the two members, the House had shown total contempt for the constitution of the country.
“The house, by this action had only demonstrated another attempt to subvert democracy as it earlier suspended two PDP lawmakers, Danladi Kwasu Angulu (Zangon Constituency) and Yakubu Bityong (Kaura Constituency) without recourse to due process,” he said.
Ashiru who expressed dismay over the refusal of the House to recall the members even after a court of competent jurisdiction ruled on their favour, called on the leadership of the PDP at the State and national levels to take necessary constitutional actions against the State House of Assembly in the interest of democracy.
