APGA condemn killings in Nasarawa

Date:

From Gambo Ahmed, Lafia.

The All progressive Grand Alliance APGA in Nasarawa state has condemned in totality the unwarranted killing of innocent lives and destruction of property by unknown gunmen last week Saturday in Mante, Nidan and Kataza villages of Akwanga local government councils of Nasarawa State.
In a press statement issued to newsmen in Lafia, the state capital yesterday by the state APGA acting chairman, Honourable Francis Yua, the party described the act as heinous.
According to the statement, “ facts available to the leadership revealed that an innocent under aged school girl from Mante was kidnaped, raped and killed by suspected herdsmen. When her parents rose in search of her , they were attacked, killed, houses set ablaze and many properties destroyed”.
APGA also appealed to both parents to seize fire and maintain the peace being enjoyed; saying that destruction of lives and burning of houses is inimical to the peace and security of Nasarawa state.
The APGA state chairman, however, urged the state and federal governments to as a matter of urgency take proactive steps geared towards protecting lives and properties of Akwanga communities and the state at large.
It could be recalled that the police authority in Nasarawa state on Sunday morning confirmed to newsmen the sad event that led to the destruction of properties in Kataza, Mdan and Mante, assuring that the command and other security operatives are working assiduously to fish out the perpetrators as well as called for calmness in the affected communities and its surroundings.
