APM dismisses Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council as ‘Dead on Arrival’

The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has rejected President Bola Tinubu’s newly constituted campaign council for the 2027 presidential election, arguing that its composition reflects the administration’s alleged dwindling political fortunes.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, made the remarks in a statement, describing the council as incapable of delivering the broad political support required for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to the APM, the calibre of individuals appointed to the campaign structure suggests that the Tinubu administration is struggling to attract politicians with sufficient credibility and public acceptance.

The party took particular exception to the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul-Aziz Yari, as Director-General of the campaign council.

APM alleged that Yari’s tenure as governor was marked by worsening insecurity and difficult living conditions in Zamfara, questioning how his leadership record could strengthen the president’s electoral prospects in 2027.

Yusuf argued that after more than three years in office, Tinubu should have been able to assemble a campaign team capable of inspiring confidence among Nigerians.

“If, after three and a half years in power, President Tinubu could not garner the capacity to assemble a credible team, then it is clear that, indeed, he has no business being in charge of a nation as complex and demanding as Nigeria,” he said.

The APM further dismissed the members of the council as “known political sycophants, inconsistent characters and ideological turncoats,” insisting that the campaign structure was unlikely to significantly alter the administration’s political standing ahead of the 2027 elections.
