Applicant bags 6 months’ imprisonment for theft

A Senior Magistrates’ court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced a 29-year-old applicant, Augustine Reuben, to 6 months in prison for theft.

Reuben, who resides at Banex Junction, Wuse 2 Abuja, was arraigned on a count of theft.

He was alleged to have grabbed a man, who was having dinner in a restaurant and collected his cell phone without his consent.

Sequel to the accused plea of guilty, the Magistrate, Mrs. Chinyere Nwacheonwu, sentenced him to six months in prison for theft.

“You are thereby convicted and sentenced to six months in prison for theft with an option of N5, 000 fine,” she said.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl Yusuf Sani, told the court that on June 7, Mr George Diwun of Life Camp Garage came to Mabushi Police Station to lodge complaint against Reuben.

Sani said the accused grabbed the complainant who was having his dinner in a restaurant at Wuse 2, and collected his cell phone. (NAN)
