A 25-year old applicant, Musa Bala, has appeared in an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ court, for allegedly stealing five cartons of tiles and plumbing materials valued at N243,000.

Bala is arrained for criminal trespass, intimidation, mischief and theft.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Chijoke OKezie, told the court that Mr. Tony Oguike, through a petition to the Assistant.

Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, in June 2013, lodged a complaint against the accused.

Okezie said that the petition alleged that sometimes in September 2012, the accused in a company of others now at large, chased away security men on guard in the complainant’s house at No. 3, Tunde Ogbeha street, Gudu district, and unlawfully entered.

He alleged that the accused removed the items.

Okezie said the offence contravened sections 348, 397, 327 and 287 of Penal code, respectively.

If convicted, he is liable to eight years in prison or with fine.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Ramatu Gulna, admitted the accused to bail for N1 million with a surety.

She ordered that the surety must be a civil servant not below GL 10 or a businessman who must have fixed address.

She ordered that a photocopy of last promotion letter of the civil servant must be submitted to the court’s registrar.

Gulna adjourned the case until May 13 for further hearing. (NAN)
