
Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS), Hon. Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, has stressed the need for quality partnership and support to further advance the agricultural sector in the FCT.
Ango made this point known during a meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation led by Professor Wataru Yamazaki , the agency’s Country Representative in Nigeria.
He noted that as Nigeria’s capital, the FCT deserves top-tier services, particularly in critical sectors like veterinary services.
He however, assured the delegation of the FCT Administration’s commitment, under the leadership of Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike and Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, to supporting initiatives that align with the vision of making Abuja one of the world’s best capital cities.
“The current FCT leadership is prioritizing infrastructural development, not just in the city center but across all six Area Councils.
“Having recently assumed office, I am keen on strengthening our collaboration with JICA to further advance the agricultural sector”, he stated.
Ealier in his remarks, Professor Yamazaki thanked the Secretariat for its warm reception and highlighted the agency’s plans to train FCT veterinary doctors.
He explained that the visit aimed to develop a tailored training manual in partnership with the Secretariat’s Veterinary Services Department, focusing on modern abattoir management and global best practices.
On his part, the Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Idris Ademoh, expressed confidence that the training would enhance service delivery and efficiency in the veterinary sector of the FCT.
