The Arewa Defenders Forum (ADF) has called on the Inspector General of Police to take action against Murtala Ajaka Yakubu, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in connection with the death of an APC supporter.
In a statement shared with the press in Abuja on Monday, the Chairman of the Arewa Defenders Forum, Abdulfatah Salmonu, expressed concern about the delay in addressing the accusations against Yakubu, who has been implicated in the killing of supporters and the undermining of security efforts by the police.
Salmonu emphasized that the lack of action in this case sends a troubling message that those in positions of power are immune to the law, eroding public trust in the justice system.
“We demand swift action from the police to arrest Yakubu and other instigators of violence, ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families,” he stated.
Salmonu pointed out that a man who, as per the police, continues to disrupt security efforts in the state by moving with a group of heavily armed political thugs, should not be allowed to roam freely.
Furthermore, Salmonu alleged that the recent outbreak of violence, resulting in the deaths of several APC supporters and innocent civilians, was incited and exacerbated by Yakubu and other promoters of mindless violence who prioritize power over peace.
He noted that unprovoked attacks and killings of opposition supporters were a consequence of hate campaigns and propaganda conducted by these identified perpetrators of violence, led by Yakubu, who relentlessly pursue a destructive agenda of collective mayhem.
