The Association of Southern Nigeria Students has constituted a Convention Planning Committee to oversee its forthcoming zonal elections.
The decision was disclosed in a statement signed by the National President of the association, Comrade Taswo Temitope, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Saturday.
According to the statement, the committee will plan, coordinate and supervise all activities leading to the zonal polls, with a mandate to ensure a transparent, credible and well-organised electoral process.
Members of the committee include Comrade Okereafor Bestman as Chairman; Comrade Josiah Adeyemo as Secretary; Comrade Lafiaji Lawrence as Public Relations Officer; Senator Ayeni Ifeoluwa; Comrade Bamgbose Tomiwa; Comrade Adebimpe Cyril; Comrade Fasola Ayomikun; and Comrade Oluwakayode Akinpelu.
The national body urged members of the committee to discharge their duties with integrity and in strict compliance with the association’s constitution, while wishing them a successful assignment.
Speaking also,the committee chairman who also doubles as President Progressive Students Movement PSM,Comr Amb Okereafor Bestman , promised to conduct a free , fair and credible elections in accordance with international best practices, while appreciating ASONIS national leadership for finding worthy of the task .
