Association holds capacity building workshop for nurses, midwifes

Nigerian Nurses Charitable Association-UK in conjunction with Nigerians in Diaspora commission, Federal Ministry of Health as well as the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) on Wednesday organized a one-day training workshop on capacity building for nurse and midwifery leaders.
The training workshop took place at Post Basic Critical Care Nursing School, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada with the theme “Nigerian Nurses and Midwives: Time for Turn Around”.
In an interview at the occasion, Chairman Organizing Committee, Mrs Chukwu Lydian Ngozi, who is the Head of Department of Nursing at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, said the training programme targeted at improving the knowledge capacity of Nigerian nurses.
She urged Nigerian nurses to remain committed to their profession, adding that they should have faith in doing their jobs for humanity.
She also charged Nigerian nurses to always adhere to professional standard in order to meet up with the international practice.
Her words: “Nursing profession has a hope and because we are also the hope for the sick. We should not give up no matter the difficulties or the challenges. We are statically positioned in the health sector, because we formed the large number”.
She said as the Head of Department of Nursing at UATH she would introduce new ideas, innovations and concepts, as well leave a legacy in the nursing profession.
Ngozi who is the Deputy Director in charge of Nursing Services, called on the government of the day to take every member of health sector along, and urged the government to promote the team work.
Also speaking, the Director for International Liaison, Nigerian Nurses Association-UK, Pastor Peters Omoragbon, said the association was geared towards improving the standard of healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
