The leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State have vowed to work for the interest of the South East in the 2023 presidential elections, even as it said such will depend on ensuring the victory of the party in the contest for the Presidency.
The Abia State Chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere stated this when he received in audience the leader of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign team, who visited Abia to further their campaign.
He stated clearly that Abia has always been a PDP controlled state since the formation of the party, and reiterated the continued support of the state leadership and the members to the party as it remained the only political party with the interest of the people at heart.
Okere also said that the leaders of the party in Abia state will consult widely with other stakeholders with the view to support a credible presidential aspirant that will emerge as the PDP flagbearer, as well as secure winning in the coming 2023 elections in the country.
However, in their separate speeches during the consultative visit by members of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Committee, a former Abia State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Ndidi Okereke, ex-Deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Emeka Stanley, former State Woman Leader of the party, Barrister Nnenna Obewu Onwuka, Arc. Benson Ezem, submitted that both the leaders and stakeholders of the party will discuss the issues of the presidential aspirant and come out with a unanimous decision that will further strengthen the chances of the former ruling party in Nigeria to win the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking earlier, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and founder of Daar Communication Limited, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, who led the Atiku Abubakar presidency delegation on the visit, applauded the unwavering support and commitment of Abia leaders and members to the development of PDP in Nigeria.
The PDP leader insisted that the state chapter has remained supportive to the advancement of the party for the past years and also noted that Abia had produced great leaders of this nation that sacrificed immensely to its sustenance.
He further informed the PDP leaders in Abia that his visit to the state was to inform them of the intention of former Nigeria Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to contest the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
Those in the delegation of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Technical Committee were; Engr. Olajide Adeniji, who acts as the Secretary to the team, Mr.Emeka Donald Nwachukwu, Chief Obunike Ohaegbu, Mr Olumide Opeewe, Mr.Ado, Hajia Hassana Dada Shuaibu and Mr Adai Edwin Adai.
