Attacks on Sen Sani, Hukunyi: Court orders IGP to investigate El-Rufai’s aide

A Federal High court sitting in Kaduna has granted an order compelling the Inspector General of Police and the Kaduna State Police Commissioner to investigate the Special Adviser to Kaduna governor on Politics and Inter-governmental Affairs , Mal. Uba Sani, over attacks on Senators at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kaduna.
The attacked lawmakers, Senators Shehu Sani and Suleiman Othman Hukunyi with the owner of Liberty Television, Dr. Ahmed Tijani Ramalan in suit No: FHC/KD/CS/124/2017 had asked the court for an order of mandamus compelling the IGP and Police Commissioner to investigate the governor’s aide for the sponsored attack.
According to the suit ,the Senators sought “an order for leave to apply for an order of mandamus compelling the 1st and 2nd (the IGP Police commissioner) to exercise the legal duty to conduct a thorough, prompt, and independent and impartial investigation for the purpose of arrest and prosecution of Uba Sani for the mastermind of the attacks on the applicants his sponsored thugs on 30th day of July, 2017.”
The Presiding Judge, Justice S. M Shuaibu, in ruling on the matter, granted the order and adjourn the matter to 15th February, 2018 for hearing.
It would be recalled that thugs allegedly sponsored by politicians had stormed the NUJ secretariat, venue of the conference, and attacked Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, Shehu Sani and others as well as journalists.
