Following the horrific assault launched by the dreaded Boko Haram on Bama local government area of Borno state some days back, where many were killed and scores wounded, some women who escaped, and managed to run to Maiduguri over the weekend, have revealed that the insurgents killed their husbands, who were their bread winners.
According to the Hausa Service of the BBC monitored in Jos, yesterday, the scores of women who, after the attack lived for fifteen days under the watch of the insurgents in Bama, said men who hid themselves following the attack were later seen and brought out and they were killed one after the other, by the insurgents who had captured the area since the day of the attack.
The women further explained that the men who were arrested by the insurgents and kept at Bama prison, were also brought out batch by batch and killed.
A woman who was among those that ran to Maiduguri narrated that, “when the insurgents stormed Bama, they killed our husbands. They followed them to their hideouts and killed them. Those that were arrested and kept at the Bama prison by the insurgents were also killed. “
The women further revealed that the insurgents also kidnapped women, particularly young ones, whom the insurgents said they would marry.
The women however said there were countless dead bodies littering the ground in Bama, most of which had been buried while many women and children are still in the bush. They also disputed the claim that soldiers had been in Bama, saying that no soldier came to the area to safe guard the place.
