Bandits kill 1, abducts 10 people in Niger communities

Suspected bandits have killed one person and abducted no fewer than 10 people in communities in Wushishi local government area of Niger state.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.

It was said that the armed men in their numbers were riding on motorcycles along their normal route at Kundu with three persons on each motorcycle moving towards Akere and Mashegu local government communities.

It was reliably gathered that the said criminals were over one hundred in numbers.

“They captured a man and asked him to climb their bike to guide them, but later, they asked him to step down and was shot dead, while other people were abducted separately from their villages”, a source told our reporter.

Also, a community source in an interview said the bandits also russttle cattles and livestock with many others injured during the unfornate attack which lasted for hours without intervention from the security agencies.

The residents said the bandits targeted; Kundu,Garin Gabas, Pangu Gari, Madaka, Hana Wanka among others.

Report indicated that the terrorists have spent hours during the attacked on communities which includes Jiwawa in  Kundu ward, Rafi and other communities in Shiroro local government areas of the state.

The Niger State Commissioner for Homeland and Security, General Abdullahi Mohammed Garba (retired) confirmed the incident, adding that joint security operatives have been deployed to the area for combat but could not give details of the casualties at the time of filing the report.
