A member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Kwande East Constituency Hon Samuel Mato has lambasted the Director General, Homeland Security Air Commodore Jacob Gbawuam rtd for his comments claiming that there is peace in Kwande local government.
Hon Mato described such comments as ‘misleading’, adding that he is shocked and disappointed at the DG’s false claims.
Addressing newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday, Hon Mato lamented that his constituency is under siege as it is witnessing massive bloodshed and displacement even as several persons have been missing.
“My people have not enjoyed peace for the past decade, they have been in exile. Even on Monday 17th February, 2025 at 12 midnight, I received a call that so many people were killed in my Constituency and they were trying to assemble their corpses.
“I want to express my grievance over comments made by DG Homeland Security that there are no killings in Kwande especially in Turan and Ikyurav-ya.”
He denied outrightly that there are no kilings, insisting that there is peace. I am shocked and highly disappointed with the false claims and allegations made by the DG Homeland Security.
